John Palmer was the presidential candidate for Jeffersonian Democrats in 1896. Palmer, an old Union Civil War general, split with the Democratic Party over the gold standard and ran a unity campaign with Simon Bolivar Buckner, an old Confederate general. This celluloid stud is a rare item, with some slight fading in the photo but still very presentable.
