The term “Chemurgy” was coined in the 1930s to describe the idea of creating industrial products from agricultural raw materials. Henry Ford tried his hand at the idea with the prototype “soybean car.” Agrol, a motor fuel derived from farm products, inspired hope (and drew opposition from the petroleum industry). This colorful 1940 campaign pin embraces the idea of Chemurgy. It’s a classic 1 1/4 inch Wendell Willkie celluloid with gorgeous color that supports the concept. Excellent condition.
