Edwin Hurd Conger was a Civil War veteran and Iowa congressman who later served as minister to various countries, including China from 1898-1905. Conger was in Beijing during the Boxer rebellion and he and his family were among those who withstood a 55-day siege. This colorful pin pictures the flags of allied nations and a scene where a soldier saves a woman and child from one of the Chinese. Conger returned home a hero. This colorful 1 3/4 inch celluloid has a National Advertising of Des Moines back paper, excellent condition.
