Truman, Minnesota wasn’t named after Harry Truman – in fact, there’s some debate over whom it was named for. Was it surveyor Truman Whited or Truman Clark, the son of a railroad president? Whatever the true story, the people of Truman knew a good opportunity when they saw it. It just so happened that when the town celebrated a golden jubilee in 1949, there was a fellow named Truman in the White House. So they residents of the small town put Harry on this pin to celebrate their 50th birthday. It’s a very scarce 2 1/4 inch celluloid, excellent condition.
