Harry Truman formed the Civil Rights Commission and desegregated the armed forces. He was in on the early vanguard of the civil rights movement, and this pin recognizes that. That identification was one of the reasons Strom Thurmond bolted to run for president on the States Rights ticket in 1948, taking many Southern Democrats with him. This rare 2 inch celluloid emphasized Truman’s commitment to improving civil rights. Excellent.
