Tammany Hall was in the middle of the Boss Tweed era when this ribbon was made in 1870 for a Grand Demonstration at Union Square in New York City. One year later, the “Orange riots” led to Tweed’s downfall and the scandal that rocked Tammany Hall. This is an officer’s ribbon made for the Oct. 27, 1870 demonstration. It’s a 6 inch item with a faint stain at bottom.
