Congressman Joe Martin of Massachusetts was the only Republican to hold the office of Speaker of the House in the years from 1931-1995. Martin was speaker from 1947-1949 and again from 1953-1955. He served in Congress from 1925-1967. This 2 3/4 inch celluloid is a Speaker Martin Press badge, so you know it dates from one of his two short stints as leader of the House. Excellent condition.
