You know the story of the tortoise and the hare. Apparently, this is the political version. This very unusual item is a celluloid mounted on the back of a metal turtle. The man on the shell is James “Sunny Jim” Sherman, congressman from the 27th District of New York. This item was made to support a young Sherman for that job. He later went on to become William Howard Taft’s vice president. This 1 1/2 by 2 1/4 inch item has some light spotting.
