“Little Hickory,” James K. Polk, is the subject of this lithograph by printmaker Nathaniel Currier. This 12 1/2 by 16 1/2 inch includes a vintage frame. The print pictures Polk and says at bottom, “Nominated for Eleventh President of the United States.” Polk was the original dark horse presidential candidate in 1844. Prints like this one would have given many Americans their first look at Polk. It has a stain on the right side but still is very attractive.
