Charles Evans Hughes came within a whisker of winning the 1916 presidential election – in fact, he went to bed in New York thinking he probably would win, but woke up a loser when California went to Woodrow Wilson. This jugate is a highly sought-after and rare campaign item from that race. It’s a 1 1/8 inch framed pinback that pictures Hughes with running mate Charles Fairbanks. Excellent condition.
