President Franklin Roosevelt didn’t like the way the Supreme Court was treating his New Deal programs. So in 1937 he came up with a plan: change the makeup of the court. FDR’s plan called for the president to be able to appoint one new justice for each justice who was more than 70 years old. That would have resulted in six new justices at the time. FDR was accused of trying to pack the court for his own purposes and this rare little litho pin took the opposition view. It’s a 7/8 inch litho made by Geraghty in excellent condition. FDR ended up hanging around for four terms and appointed eight justices during that time, so you might say he eventually got his way.
