Labor’s fight for an 8-hour work day stretched well back into the 19th century. By the early 1900s, workers in some industries were on 40-hour work weeks, but many were not. This 1 1/8 inch celluloid shows the fight was still going on as Woodrow Wilson took office. The Adamson Act of 1916 was the first attempt by the federal government to regulate hours of workers in private industry. Wilson’s support for the change is reflected on this very rare Wilson pin. Excellent condition.
