One of the most highly sought-after of all Woodrow Wilson pins, the 8-Hour Club shows Wilson’s support for the labor movement. The 8-hour day was a long-time goal for labor unions and this rare 1 1/8 inch wide by 1 7/16 inch tall celluloid puts Wilson squarely on their side. The Adamson Act, passed in 1916, gave federal approval to 8-hour days for railroad workers and was the first federal law that regulated working hours for private industry. Something most of us take for granted today was a major issue during the Wilson era. Excellent condition. A beautiful pin from Dr. Bennett Frankel's collection.
