Cartoonist Thomas Nast introduced the elephant as a symbol for the Republican Party in the 1870s. By the time William Howard Taft showed up, the elephant was entrenched as the party’s image. This tinted celluloid pin pictures Taft and is attached to its own Republican elephant. Pin is 2 1/4 inches with faint scuff on edge at 5.
