This pin asks voters to send Dick Hansen to Congress to help Ike, but in truth it was designed so Ike could give some help to Dick Hansen. It’s a 1 inch celluloid aimed at voters in Minnesota’s 4th Congressional District in 1954. Apparently, they decided Ike didn’t need Hansen’s help. He went down to defeat in a landslide, losing to a young congressman named Eugene McCarthy, who went on to much bigger things. McCarthy won 63 percent of the vote in the 1954 election in spite of Ike helping Hansen. Pin is in excellent condition.
