Throwing your hat into the ring originally was boxing term – when a young fellow wanted to show he was ready test his pugilistic skills, he would literally throw his hat into the ring to show his intentions. In 1912, Teddy Roosevelt “threw his hat into the ring” to show he was ready to take on the fight for president. This rare 2 1/8 inch celluloid features that famous saying along with an unusual picture of TR. Uneven surface, small indents bottom. Very rare TR item.
