John Palmer was a Civil War general and governor of Illinois who ran for president on the National Democratic Party ticket in 1896. Palmer broke with the Democratic Party over the gold standard, leading to his 1896 campaign. This very scarce enamel stickpin pictures Palmer on a 7/8 inch flag in excellent condition.
