Nixon and Kennedy Scarce Green and Black Pin

We don't know a lot about this Nixon and Kennedy celluloid button from 1960 other than it seldom shows up for sale. It's a scarce 3 1/2-inch celluloid, maybe reflecting the undecided voters or possibly suggesting we put the two together to run the country? Whatever the meaning, it's a very unusual 1960 item in excellent condition.
