The rapid growth in the use of bicycles in the 1890s created a new issue – the maintenance of roads. So many people were riding bicycles that bicyclists became a political force. The National Wheelmen’s Club flexed its political muscles with this 1 1/4 inch celluloid from 1896 picturing William McKinley and Garret Hobart. The pin has a Whitehead and Hoag back paper and is in excellent condition.
