William McKinley and Garret Hobart are pictured on this rare celluloid jugate from Canton – not Canton, Ohio, which was McKinley’s hometown, but tiny Canton, South Dakota. In 1890, there were only 9,000 people in all of Lincoln County, where Canton is located. Somehow this 1 1/4 inch celluloid with National Campaign Equipment back paper managed to survive down through the years in excellent condition.
