A spectacular large roll-out poster from 1861 that presents the political situation of the time. Created by H.H. Lloyd and Co. of New York, this 28 by 36 inch poster has wooden rods at top at bottom that allow the map to be rolled up. It features a “map of the United States, showing the states, border slave states, cotton states, and territories in different colors.” It also features portraits of Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln’s Cabinet, Gen. Benjamin Butler, Gen. Winfield Scott, Col. Elmer Ellsworth (a friend a Lincoln’s and first Union soldier killed during the occupation of Alexandria, Va.) and Col. Robert Anderson (commander of Ft. Sumter). Chart also features various charts, statistics and facts. A fascination piece of early Civil War history. Map is torn at bottom right in the area of Anderson’s photo and Florida portion of map.
