William Lemke of North Dakota was the Union Party candidate for president in 1936. The Union Party was formed by supporters of Father Charles Coughlin, Francis Townsend and Gerald L.K. Smith, who had taken over Huey Long’s Share the Wealth movement after Long’s assassination. This well-made 1 inch celluloid is a very scarce Lemke celluloid with St. Louis Button Co. back paper in excellent condition. My guess would be about the third time we've ever auctioned this design.
