Scarce Adlai Stevenson “Joe Smith for Stevenson-Kefauver Club” from 1956. You’ll notice this is from the “Stassen-Carpenter” Chapter. Harold Stassen was a professed anti Nixon man and Terry Carpenter was a Republican (at least at the time – he changed parties 5 times) who was credited with the “Joe Smith” idea. When Republicans who wanted Nixon dropped from the 1956 ticket were asked who would replace him, they answered “Joe Smith” – implying anyone would do. This 3 inch celluloid was created by Stewart Political Merchandise of Alva, Oklahoma. Excellent condition.
