One of the great stories in political history. Jeannette Rankin was a pacifist from Montana who became the first woman elected to Congress in 1916. One year later, she voted against entering World War I and then lost her seat. She made a comeback in 1940 and was elected again, just in time to be the only member of Congress to vote against entering World War II. Two terms, two votes against world wars. She returned to the public eye in the 1960s when she led the Jeannette Rankin Brigade against the Vietnam War. This 1 inch celluloid is from the 1940 campaign, excellent condition, St. Louis Button Co. back paper.
