Isador Straus was New York Jewish leader, owner of Macy’s and former congressman who was on the Titanic for the famed ocean liner’s doomed maiden voyage. Straus’s wife, Ida, reportedly refused to leave her husband and board a lifeboat, preferring to stay with him until the end. Close to 40,000 people turned out for the Straus memorial service in New York City. This extremely rare 1 1/4 inch celluloid is a direct link to one of the most inspiring stories and one of the most famous passengers of the Titanic disaster. Excellent condition.
