“The Boys in Blue” saved the nation by wearing the uniform of the Union during the Civil War. They were still trying to save the union in 1876 with this rare Rutherford B. Hayes campaign ribbon. This 5 inch ribbon reminded people about the war 11 years after it ended. Hayes, by the way, started out as a major in the Civil War and ended it a major general. He was wounded four times during the war, something that endeared him to the other Boys in Blue. A few light spots. Although not as colorful as the pin this is the far tougher item. Consigned by a leading Las Vegas collector.
