Spectacular! That’s the only way to describe this giant cloth James Garfield campaign banner from 1880. It’s a red, white and blue cloth banner that measures 38 inches at its widest point and 11 feet, 3 inches long. This remarkable banner has some stains and spots but still is in very good shape without any structural damage except for some cuts along the bottom edge below Arthur’s name. As you can see in the photo, this banner is an impressive sight. It has a cord running through the left end so it could be hung. You can just imagine what this must have looked like hanging from a window as a parade for Garfield passed below. It’s the only one like we’ve ever auctioned and it is a rare opportunity to acquire a magnificent display item.
