The Democratic donkey did all he could to give James M. Cox’s campaign a boost. The plastic donkey is attached to a rare Cox for president picture pin, making this item a very special Cox piece. Cox was the owner of the Dayton Daily News and his holdings later grew to become the vast Cox Media empire. His 1920 race against Warren Harding pitted two newspapermen turned politicians against each other. Most people believe Cox was a better journalist and a better politician. Naturally, he lost in a landslide. The 1 1/4 inch celluloid and the donkey are both in excellent condition.
