Calvin Coolidge was not exactly an exciting guy, but Hiram Bingham certainly was. Bingham was elected governor of Connecticut in 1924 and later served as U.S. senator – but that was just a part of the story. The son of missionaries to Hawaii, Bingham was the man who made Macchu Pichu famous when he wrote a book about it in 1911. He was an explorer who is often mentioned as being the inspiration for the Indiana Jones movies. Running for governor must have seemed pretty boring – he won with 66 percent of the vote. This rare 3/4 inch celluloid is a New Haven, Ct., Coolidge coattail with small spot on edge at 5.
