New York saloonkeeper John Schrank shot Theodore Roosevelt in Milwaukee during a 1912 campaign stop. Roosevelt was saved by a rolled-up manuscript and metal spectacle case in his pocket. Roosevelt ended up giving the speech in spite of his wound, saying “It takes more than that to kill a bull moose.” This 1 1/2 inch celluloid pin from 1912 is a very scarce Bull Moose pin that pictures the animal that gave its name to the party. Excellent.
