Famous black singer Paul Robeson’s concerts near Peekskill, New York, in 1949 ended in violence. Robeson’s support for civil rights and anti imperialism were targets of the mobs who started the violence. This celluloid pin is a rare political item supporting Ben Davis, a communist Harlem city councilman running on the American Labor Party ticket who urged voters to remember the Peekskill riots. It’s a 7/8 inch celluloid in excellent condition.
