William McKinley and John Tanner are pictured on this Illinois coattail item from 1896. Tanner defeated John Altgeld in the 1896 race for governor of Illinois. This is the first time we’ve offered this 2 1/8 inch cardboard item that comes from the Bob Rouse collection. Back lists group of Civil War generals (Sigel, Sickles, Alger, Howard, Milholland, Stewart) and Tanner, who was private in the war. Excellent condition.
