New York Senator Roscoe Conkling was a U.S. Grant supporter who led the “Unconditionals” in support of a third term for Grant. Later, a Republican marching club called the “Unconditionals” was organized in Utica, New York. This rare celluloid pictures Conkling (who had died 20 years before) along with Republican candidates William Howard Taft and James Sherman, who was from Utica. It’s a 1 1/4 inch celluloid with Whitehead and Hoag BP, excellent.
